Many types of libraries have emerged in the twentieth century, but the development of specialized libraries after the Second World War has not happened even in the last two or three centuries. Now in the modern era, libraries are being established for every section of the society. There are technical variations in the organization of specific libraries, it is necessary to study the organization, operation, methods, use of new technologies, diversity found in library collection and staff of such libraries, various forms of libraries are visible at all places. In which specialized libraries, university, college and school libraries are the main ones.
. Specialized libraries are those libraries in which study material is available only on specific subjects or subjects. Special libraries are also justified because public or educational libraries are able to meet the needs of only the general readership, they collect text material on many subjects but for specific readers who need modern literature on some subjects. Only such libraries prove to be useful, there are some readers who are unable to use the general libraries due to their special circumstances, limitations, research or specialties. On the other hand, in general libraries, they are not able to get suitable reading material, the special type of study material and library service of these readers is limited to specific libraries. Many times public libraries provide necessary services to some specific audience by establishing a special section, but library services can be made suitable for a particular section only when there is an independent specialized library for them. These specific types of libraries are needed only to provide special types of information and library services to any business or government institution which is making its place in a particular area. The specialized library serves only the people with interest in the specific subject of the public community. After the First World War, the attention of industry and commerce came towards the need of such libraries and information services for the technical staff, but the main development of such libraries took place after the Second World War. The influence of the spread of modern technical literature is also reflected in the spread of specialized libraries.
Development of Specialized Libraries in India
KG According to Backwell, “A specialized library is a library which serves a particular group, such as the employees of an establishment, the employees of a government subject or the staff and members of any professional research. Such a library is necessarily related to information, comparative From the point of view, specialized libraries are generally small libraries that cater to the needs of a small number of specific individuals.Generally such libraries are specialized in a particular subject or subjects.
2. History of the Specialized Library
Specialized libraries were developed from the beginning of the 20th century. But the rapid pace of development has come after the Second World War. The need for specific libraries depends on the economic, social, cultural, industrial, scientific and technological development of any country, in countries where economic and social development has taken place. There has been a high demand for such libraries. Like in USA, France, Japan and Germany where scientific development has been more, there are abundance of such libraries, such libraries are from government departments, directorates, bureaus, societies, professional organizations, associations, hospitals, social welfare centers etc. stay connected. Such libraries are needed for the specific readers associated with these above institutions. The working style, purpose, method of collection of literature and its technical presentation differ greatly from other libraries.
Differences Between Specialized and General Libraries Types of Specialized Libraries
. The development of specialized libraries was first done in the United States of America. In the year 1909, there were only fifty specialized libraries in the United States, whose number increased to two thousand in 1935 and in 1950.

It's five thousand. According to a directory published in 1968, there were eleven thousand specialized libraries in the United States and Canada. Today there are an estimated more than twenty thousand specialized libraries in these countries.
D. B. Arnold has defined specific libraries in such a way that these are those libraries which are established for the same type of subject and for the same type of purpose. Such libraries provide reading material on their specific subject or subjects. Specialized libraries may also be attached to a large university or public library. They are developed according to the subject. The documentation and information centers associated with them come which collect the text material on the subjects.
The collection of text material of specific libraries is different from other libraries such as manuscripts, maps, audio-visual material, microforms, videotape recording slides, reports, patents etc. The previous marks of magazines are also found more in this, whereas the number of books is more in educational libraries.
Medical, engineering, business libraries also come under the category of specialized libraries, these specialized libraries are also called Special Library, Technical Library and Industrial Library.
